Waipara Springs Winery and Cafe is located in the warm dry Waipara district north of Christchurch. The wines have been enjoyed both in New Zealand and internationally since the winery opened in 1990.

Southern Boundary Wines Cellar Door is located onsite and provides tastings from a range of over 30 wines from Waipara Springs, Waipara Downs and Bascand Estate. These wine labels cross two world class wine producing regions which offers a stunning range that showcases the best New Zealand has to offer.

Our wines

Southern Boundary Wines is dedicated to quality, with careful quality control from the vine to the bottle.

Waipara Springs wines are made in the classic fruit driven style that New Zealand wine is renowned for worldwide. With an emphasis of fruit characters these wines are a vibrant expression of our vineyard. Premo Reserve wines represent our vision of creating wines with distinct personalities, wines that are a direct expression of our unique terroir.

Waipara Downs is an ultra premium, high demand, low production wine from the heart of Waipara. The first commercial vintage was produced in 1991.

Bascand Estate was established in 1998 by the Bascand family on 25 hectares of prime Marlborough land, renowned for its gold medal winning wines. The vineyards are certified as sustainable in keeping with a philosophy of looking after the earth and environment around us and this flows into our wines.

For Australia, Japan, the UK and Denmark our wines can be ordered onsite and delivered with little or no freight charge.

Our cafe

Waipara Springs Cafe offers a wonderful array of tempting dishes using as many local ingredients as possible, including salmon, lamb, cheese and asparagus, not to mention the famous homemade bread.

Set menus are available for larger groups and functions and tour platters are available for lunch for tour groups. Brunch and afternoon tea can be catered for and a range of pricing options to suit any tour is available. Minimum numbers do not apply.
