2009 Waipara Downs Blanc de Blancs (Sparkling) ($30 per bottle, $27 Cellar Club).

Pale golden in colour, this delicate sparkling wine is rich and fruity with complex aromas of citrus, brioche and toasted almonds. It has a fine and fresh acidity which leads to a long dry finish.

2009 Waipara Downs Merlot ($25 per bottle, $22.50 Cellar Club).

This is an elegantly structured, medium-bodied wine from a good vintage for Merlot. It displays up-front flavours of black cherry, plum and spice, mixed with soft tannins and well integrated oak.

2010 Waipara Springs Pinot Noir ($22 per bottle, $18.70 Cellar Club mail order).

This wine shows earthy and savoury notes and is backed up by a core of dark ripe forest fruits. On the palate the low pH gives elegance to the natural fruit sweetness and the minimal extraction has resulted in a fine tannin structure.
