Waipara Wine and Food Success

The Waipara Wine and Food Festival was a great success. Thank you to all of our customers who visited us on the day. Waipara Springs Restaurant was the proud winner of the North Canterbury Food and Wine Trail Food & Wine Matching (Cafe) Challenge. Our Passionfruit and Sweet Chilli Mussel dish matched with our 2008 Waipara Springs Riesling was a winning combination. This dish will feature on our special menu at our Autumn Harvest Dinner on 27 March (details below).

 

New release wines

2009 Waipara Springs Dry Riesling: This intensely scented Dry Riesling exhibits aromas of fresh ginger and mandarin peel with sweet notes of honey suckle. The palate is full and rich with ripe citrus flavours and has a crisp dry finish. RRP $22 (Cellar Club take away $16.50)

2009 Waipara Springs Pinot Noir: This wine shows earthy and savoury notes and is backed up by a core of dark ripe forest fruits. On the palate the low pH gives elegance to the natural fruit sweetness and the minimal extraction has resulted in a fine tannin structure. RRP $22 (Cellar Club take away $16.50)

Both of these wines as well as the 2009 Premo Dry Riesling will feature in the new wine release tastings prior to dinner on 27 March.

Autumn Harvest Dinner

Just a reminder that Waipara Springs will be open for dinner bookings on Saturday, 27 March to host an Autumn Harvest Dinner. Tastings of our new release wines mentioned above will be run between 5 and 6pm and will feature in the cellar club packs available for members.

Award-winning Passionfruit and Sweet Chilli Mussels served on a zucchini, parmesan and lemon fritter and topped with a chive and lemon cr?me fraiche (Wine Suggestion: Waipara Springs 2008 Riesling)

Tomato, feta and basil Bruschetta served on homemade toasted ciabatta with red onion and olive oil (Wine Suggestion: Waipara Springs 2006 Riesling)

Chicken and Pork Terrine with a sweet plum chutney served en croutes* (Wine Suggestion: Waipara Springs 2008 Chardonnay)

Parmesan and lemon crusted Fish of the Day served on a zucchini frittata with a petit side salad and topped with hollandaise sauce (Wine Suggestion: Waipara Springs 2009 Premo Dry Riesling)
