100% French Oak (35% new)
Thirty-one-year old un-grafted Mendoza clone Chardonnay vines have produced a wine of intensely concentrated flavours and aromas. Un-fined juice with full solids underwent a 'wild fermentation' in French oak barriques to create a wine of structure and complexity.
This wine has been crafted from un-grafted 31 year old Mendoza vines grown on clay and limestone rich soils. It shows complex aromas of fresh fig, toasted nuts and roasted white peach together with the rich vanilla aromas of French oak. The palate is rich with minerality, texture and complexity with lingering flavours of ripe summer stone fruits. This wine will reward patient cellaring. . Food: Match with chicken or vegetable pasta dishes.
Rich and complex, this immensely attractive chardonnay is filled with yellow peach and mango characters with subtle hints of butterscotch and vanilla. The palate is ripe and generously weighted, beautifully supported by creamy texture and well-integrated acidity. Very attractive and long on the finish. At its best: now to 2019. 93/100 5 stars Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2014.
